R & R Travel Tales

We’ve put together this list of resources from travel bags and storage to activity booking, offline maps and hotel bookings… all have proven very useful to us. Make reference to this list before your next travels!

1pack Maximize Your Comfort And Storage With Large Capacity Travel Pillow And Organizer | SHEIN UK – A travel neck pillow which zips open to allow you for more storage. I use mine very frequently on hand luggage only flights, it is surprising how much you can also fit inside, fitting inside small tops, underwear, swimwear and also being able to use as a neck pillow on the flight.

Black Lattice Stitch Weekender Bag | Primark – This bag from Primark is my carry on I use for all Ryan Air and EasyJet hand luggage only flights, the bag is very stretchy and lightweight so you are able to fit a lot in and strap also included.

Charcoal Marl Travel Bottle and Label Set | Primark – Cheap £1 travel bottles always come in useful when travelling light and can only carry 100ml.

Berghaus Air Double Self-Inflating Mat | GO Outdoors (Ebay – £45) – Couldn’t recommend this more, wouldn’t usually spend £160 on this type of purchase but worth every penny. Comfier than most beds I’ve tried, struggle to wake up early now in the TentBox due to this! Very handy due to not having to inflate and it is also simple to roll back up and put back in the bag.

Rechargeable head torch – Temu (approx £5) – Late nights and early mornings while either on a campsite or wild camping a head torch comes in extremely handy while carrying items.

2Pcs Rain Poncho Waterproof for Men Women,Portable Rain Coat,Reusable EVA Hooded Lightweight One-Size Ponchos, for Festivals Cycling Outdoors,Sports Events,Hiking,Camping(White) : Amazon.co.uk: Fashion – A small poncho is always sensible to have outdoors, this will be helpful through sudden rainstorms abroad, camping, festivals.

Our Favourite Apps and Online Sites

Compare Cheap Flights & Book Airline Tickets to Everywhere | Skyscanner – My most regularly used airline booking option. I love SkySkanner due to the options, having the ‘whole month’ option and the ‘everywhere’ option to be able to compare prices of all airlines and countries all over the world.

https://www.hostelworld.com – A well known, site and app, Ryan has used frequently whilst solo travelling. You can make decisions to whether you stay in a 4 bed, 6 bed, 8 bed, same gender hostel or even private room. We like this site as after your stay is booked you can be added to the chat with other travellers going the same time, it is easy to meet others, join some organised events, help any pre-solo travel nerves.

https://www.booking.com – An online travel agency I use almost every time I’m away, booking hostels, hotels, homes and everything in between. You are able to get some excellent offers and the more you book the more points you gain to get money off.

park4night – Home – This is an app to download on your smartphone, we use for our TentBox trips. Others share where they park up with their camper in the area you choose, these are usually car parks and parking sites which include photos of the parking charges or whether these are free.

https://www.getyourguide.com/GetYourGuide/Activities – Download this app and find the best tours and activities in the next destination you are visiting. There are some excellent offers and some of the tours you may not think about doing until reading about and searching, also it is easy to book and read the reviews in advance.

Maps.ME – Free offline maps app, for travel planning and navigation which has access to every country in the world. Also has options for driving walking or cycling, has options for local restaurants and main attractions.

Airbnb | Holiday rentals, cabins, beach houses & more – Offers short and long term home stays, in many parts of the world useful to compare to other sites especially in main cities before booking.
